Leaders with Purpose

The Veterans behind
the mission.

Discover Service was born from boots-on-the-ground experience, and a belief that leadership starts early. Our founders are veterans who’ve led in combat zones, classrooms, and communities. Now, they’re deploying those same values to build a new kind of service legacy — one rooted in play, purpose, and the next generation.

Built by those who serve.

The founders of Discover Service are veterans, parents, and community leaders who’ve lived the values they now work to pass on. Each brings a unique mission background, united by one goal: to build a legacy of service that starts with kids and grows with every community we reach.

Troy Kenning

Troy Kenning

Troy founded Discover Service with a belief that leadership, service, and teamwork are best shaped early through experience and example. Motivated to serve after September 11, 2001, Troy spent 20 years in the U.S. Air Force and Air National Guard, serving in roles both at home and abroad and later helping grow an early-stage defense startup into a multimillion-dollar company.

Through his career, Troy saw firsthand how exposure, mentorship, and purpose can change trajectories. At Discover Service, he brings that perspective to life by building partnerships, programs, and experiences that make service approachable, engaging, and relevant for the next generation.

Troy lives in the Louisville area with his wife, Laura, and their daughters, Claire and Lily. Outside of work, he enjoys DJing school and neighborhood events, building community connections, and spending time outdoors with his family.

Nate Tingle, Discover Service Leader

Nate Tingle

Nate is a retired Air Force Combat Rescue Officer who spent his career training and deploying across the United States and around the world to perform rescues in virtually any scenario. His service required calm decision-making under pressure, deep trust in teammates, and a commitment to helping others.

Raised in Morehead, Kentucky, Nate graduated from Morehead State University with a BA in Psychology. His background in both military service and human behavior shaped his belief that growth happens when people are challenged, supported, and encouraged to push beyond what feels comfortable.

An avid golfer and hiker, Nate is drawn to challenges that test resilience and adaptability. He brings a steady, grounded perspective to Discover Service, rooted in service, teamwork, and a passion for helping others recognize their potential. Nate lives in Louisville with his wife, daughter, and four dogs.
